Enrollment is going well for Apple Academy/iQ Academy. Thank you to everyone who has come out to support us. As you may have heard, our start date has changed to Monday, October 3, 2011. The facility has indicated that their insurance will not cover Apple Academy/iQ Academy until the 3rd. We are excited to begin the school year with your children!

Our next enrollment dates are:

Thursday, September 22nd at 10am-5pm

Tuesday, September 27th at 10am-6pm

Dear Parents,

Apple Academy/iQ Academy will be holding another enrollment session tomorrow, September 16 at Starbucks @ Slauson and Western from 10am to 4pm. We will have computers and application packets on site to help families complete the application submission process for enrollment. Please bring proof of residency (ex. a copy of current utility bill).

In an effort to make this as smooth as possible for you, we can fax or email your completed documents for you if you are unable. Also,  please visit the iQ website at http://losangeles.iqacademyca.com/  and click on “Enroll Now“. One of the question will ask how you heard about iQ Academy, please type “Apple Academy” after “other”. This is extremely important  because it ensures  that iQ enrollment department enrolls you correctly and that they should anticipate your completed documents, which either you or an Apple Academy team member will submit.

What:  An informative meeting this Saturday (September 10th) to let you

 know about IQ Learning, a distance learning school that hopes to enroll

 Crescendo scholars and employ Crescendo teachers for this school year.  We

 will also be providing an update on the status of Apple Academy.

 When:  Saturday, September 10th at 5pm

 Where:  4900 S. Western Ave. in the church sanctuary

 Who:  All parents who do not yet have a school for their scholar or are

 unsatisfied with their scholars’ current school.

 FYI:  IQ Learning is an online program that will be run as a cooperative

 at the Western site, and possibly other sites if the need arises. Also, IQ

 Learning loans each student a laptop computer to use for their online

 classes.

 IQ Learning es un programa en línea (online) que se ejecutará como una cooperativa en Western, y posiblemente otros lugares en caso de necesidad. The Apple Academy Charter Teacher Coordinating Team and our Board of Directors regret to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control, Apple Academy Charter Public Schools will not open this September.

We want to be clear that we are committed to opening the Apple Academy Charter Public Schools in the near future. We’ve submitted our application to the LAUSD charter division and anticipate approval within their set timeline of 30-60 days. Rest assured, in the unlikely event LAUSD does not approve our charter, we will go to the county and if need be the state.

We understand your disappointment and appreciate your continued support. We love your children and remain fully committed to providing them with the highest quality education. We are heartbroken that we won’t be able to provide it this school year. We sincerely hope you will consider Apple Academy Charter Public Schools in the future.

Hello All,

We would like to start off by saying thank you for your continuous support and positive feedback, as well as for your patience. We have been blown away by all of the interest that we have received supporting what we are trying to accomplish.  It is no easy feat, so your kind words and support have given us the fuel we need to keep pushing.

We are happy to say that we have submitted our petition and expect to have more news soon. We understand and share the anxiety that comes along with waiting, but we are continuing to be hopeful. We still would like to encourage you to find alternatives as a secondary plan just to ensure that no matter the outcome that your child has a school to go to. We say this not as a deterrent, but to make sure that we remain honest and transparent. Your children and our scholars are priority and are to always remain first.

Hello All!

First of all, we want to thank all of you for your continued support.  We have been receiving your applications and we are excited that so many of you want to be a part of Apple Academy.

On Thursday we will be turning in our completed charter packet to the LAUSD charter division.   We are very close to the end and it looks very good for us.  Fingers crossed!

It’s come to our attention that some parents have been receiving phone calls about an information meeting held at the former Crescendo South (Normandie and Manchester).  This meeting is NOT an Apple Academy meeting.  This meeting is being held by another charter organization that is taking over that site.

Please continue to spread the word about Apple Academy and we will continue to keep you updated on our progress.

We would just like to let you know that we are still working very hard in the hopes of getting our charter approved. We have received a lot of support from parents and the community and are hopeful that all of our hard work pays off. Please continue to check for updates and submitting your enrollment forms.  Also, if you have been unable to submit  your enrollment form, teachers will be at the address below from 10am - 2pm  on Sunday, August 14th to collect your forms.
